92ND SEA FESTIVAL AT THE ROCKS OF SANT’ANNA

Everything is ready for the 92nd edition of the Festa a Mare gli Scogli di Sant’Anna to be held on Friday, July 26 as usual in the enchanting Bay of Cartaromana, linked to the ancient cult for the patron saint of parturients. Back on the island of Ischia is the highly anticipated Festa a Mare at the Scogli di Sant’anna , the highlight event of the Ischian summer that blends faith and ancient folk rituals, history and tradition. The well-established format of the festival, which features a parade of allegorical boats in the foreground of the picturesque Cartaromana Bay, remains unchanged and will kick off from about 9 p.m. and culminate with the simulated burning of the Aragonese Castle and the ever-present pyromusical fires. Four competing boats made by the associations ANS Diving Ischia, Associazione Aldebaran Turismo e Cultura, Associazione P.I.D.A.
NOVELTY: TRADITION LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
The great novelties of this 92nd edition concern first of all the concrete involvement of the school world and the presence of a guest of national and international relevance such as chef Bruno Barbieri. On the artistic side, the performance of a young up-and-coming singer stands out: 15-year-old Marta Viola, winner of the “Io Canto Generation” talent, among others. No less important is the “social” turn that the festival will have in terms of communication, thanks to the efforts of the newly formed DMO Ischia, which has provided for the participation of five influencers from the “travel” sector, who will make up an unprecedented “social” jury that will also award its own prize with the interaction of the web audience; the goal is to make known through social media and in particular through the audience of influencers not only the Festa a Mare agli Scogli di Sant’Anna, but especially the island of Ischia.
FOOD AND WINE TRADITION OF THE FESTIVAL: CHEF BARBIERI, PARMIGIANA AND COOKING CONTEST.
The eggplant parmigiana, in addition to being a typical feature of Mediterranean cuisine, turns out to be the signature dish of the Festa a Mare agli Scogli di Sant’Anna, a delicacy that is enjoyed in different ways by both the bathers waiting for the start of the festival on the rocks of the Bay of Cartaromana and the people who live by boat the whole day on July 26. So, in addition to a study of the history and recipe of this dish, the students of the Telese Institute of Ischia will delight in the preparation of the Parmigiana di Melanzane with the support, supervision and finally the “evaluation/show” of the well-known starred chef Bruno Barbieri who will follow the students in the preparation phase of the dish and, in the capacity of special guest of the Festa a Mare at the Scogli di Sant’Anna, will simulate – together with five chosen ones – a cooking competition in the beautiful Bay of Cartaromana during the evening of next July 26.
MARTA VIOLA WILL SING ON THE ST. ANNA STAGE
Despite her young age (15) Marta Viola already has significant artistic experience in what is her greatest passion: singing. In fact, at the age of 10, he represented Italy in Poland’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the sustainability song “The Voice of the Earth.” In 2021 she got top marks from the whole wall and the jury of the program on Channel 5 All togheter Now Kids hosted by Michelle Hunziker, and also in 2021 she was co-host on Rai gulp in that year’s Eurovision junior edition! In 2023, she won the TV program Io Canto Generation, on Channel 5 hosted by Gerry Scotti, where she starred in all six episodes interpreting songs such as “I surrender,” ” All by myself,” and “Come saprei” and where she won the audience and jury with her warm and powerful voice.
THE SOCIAL JURY AND VOTING FROM HOME
Great novelty of the 92nd edition of the Feast of Sant’Anna is the social jury composed of 5 influencers who will set out to discover the island of Ischia already in the days leading up to the feast, telling the story through the creation of different content on their own channels. The same will happen during the evening of July 26, when they will post live stories and other content through which they will show the highlights and most exciting moments of what remains a unique celebration. Another important new feature is the possibility for the home audience to vote for their favorite boat through a poll that will be opened in the stories on the instagram page @visitischia.official (where live content about the party will be posted) in a 20-minute window from the end of the last performance. Public voting will contribute to the influencer rankings that will award the new “social” award for the first time.
