Baths & Spas

The Hotel Continental Ischia complex, with its five thermal pools of various temperatures, ASL-affiliated spa, wellness center, and beauty center, offers a complete spa park experience. The thermal baths have brought Ischia’s name to worldwide fame and are the island’s most distinctive attraction. Already the Greeks and Romans knew the therapeutic power of these waters and the resulting treatments.

Balneotherapy is one of the most widely practiced spa therapies, where therapeutically active mineral waters take advantage of their structure to exert healing actions. Balneotherapy involves immersion in pools with warm water, with 10- to 15-minute sessions at ideal temperatures between 30 and 40 °C, followed by a 30- to 40-minute rest period to maximize the benefits of the treatment.

The beneficial properties of thermal water also find use inaerosol therapy, a treatment that reaches the finer parts of the respiratory system, treating temporary conditions and relieving chronic ones, such as colds, chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma.

Another relevant use of thermal waters is in mud therapy, where thermal mud, enriched by the properties of thermal water after a long period of maturation, is applied in the form of masks or compresses, following the instructions of the thermal doctor during the initial visit.
